Good morning! Heather here to share a fun way to make two cards at the same time – in this case a baby card with a boy and girl version! Whether you need two baby cards, don’t know whether you need a boy or girl version and want to be prepared, or just want to add an extra card to your stash, this is a great way to get TWO cards for the price of one!
I also put together a video sharing my process and I made these cards, and also sharing some tips along the way:
One other thing I did on these cards that I often love to do, is mix together two different stamp sets. I love pairing a sentiment from one set with an image from another set. So many things work together so well, and this is a great way to stretch your stamp sets and find new creative ways to use them! I used Hello Little One for my stamped backgrounds – the solid images are perfect for filling a background like this! My sentiment came from Finally Here – another darling baby stamp set with an adorable image, and super sweet sentiments.
For the girl version, I used a pink and mint color combo. I think it is so fun and girly – and also a touch more hip and unique than just traditional pink!
The boy version uses blue and a bright yellow/green – fun, bright, and a little more modern than traditional boy cards.
I used a metal die to cut the rectangles – this step is not necessary if that is something you don’t have. You can trim the edges down and just leave them plain, or if you have a sewing machine you can easily add a row of machine stitching around the edges for a fun finish.
I also love adding a sentiment heat embossed on a darker cardstock and popped over a fun stamped background. I often use black, but love the dark gray on these baby cards. While still providing great contrast, it also is a slightly softer look than black, which is perfect for baby cards.
Thanks for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day!
