Good morning! Heather here excited to kick off my first project for the month of February with a fun altered journal project I made recently. I have had this kraft journal in my stash for several years (anyone else have old stuff like that? Haha!). My hubby needed a notebook for something, and I remembered this one, and instead of just giving it to him plain and boring, I thought I would make it a little more special!
Here is a video I made showing how it all came together:
I mentioned some of these things in the video – but here is a recap:
*You can find kraft notebooks very inexpensively – search on Ebay or Amazon
*Once the white acrylic paint dries, you can stamp over it with several different types of ink and they will all stick well (I tested pigment, dye, and distress ink with no problems)
*Stamping with Bit of Burlap in your hands and not on an acrylic block adds a more distress texture
*Using a stamping tool (such as a MISTI) allows you to stamp multiple times and add different colors of ink with one stamp (for this project I used Move Mountains as my main image)
*The paint splatters are easy to add by mixing about equal parts white acrylic paint with water (or slightly more paint than water) in a small bottle and flicking it on
*Use a small box to protect your work area when adding paint splatters
I love how much more fun this is than the plain kraft journal it was when I began! You can personalize these for special gifts – or for your own use! The possibilities are endless!
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you were inspired!
