Cards in different sizes. What is your favorite size?

Cards in different sizes. What is your favorite size?

Happy stamping therapy Thursday crafty friends! Echo here looking at cards in different sizes. What is your favorite size? I primarily make cards in an A2 size. Since it is the most economical. You know how us crafters like to hoard our supplies! We are going to start with the largest card and work our way down to the smallest. Here is the card I made in the video using Happiness Is kit.

A10 card size

Making an A10 card with Zig markers

Cards in different sizes

 A10 is  9 1/4″ X 4″

Using a standard 8 1/2″ x 11″ piece of card stock. You can make one card base with some scraps left over. Cutting the card stock length wise at 9 1/4″ and 8″ in width. Scoring at 4″ width wise to get the card base. The first card is an A10 in landscape.

Here is a portrait A10 card. I used Wild and Free kit.

An A10 size card is a great way to make cards with those big stamps you have in your stash. We all know Unity has some sizable stamps. No small potatoes around here.

A9 card size

 A9 is 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″

A standard piece of card stock folded in half. Scored at 5 1/2″

Here is the sample of a portrait A9 card using Hollyhocks kit and Passion Changes Everything kit.

This is one big card but super fun to make. Great way to use those larger stamps.

A7 size card

 A7 is 5″ x 7″

Cut standard card stock length wise to 10″ and width wise to 7″. Score length wise at 5″.

Here is the sample of a portrait A7 card I made using Beautiful Birthday Wishes kit.

A6 size card

 A6 is 4 1/2″ x 6 1/4″

Cut standard size card stock length wise 9″ and width wise to 6 1/4″. Score  length wise at 4 1/2 “.

Here is the sample of a landscape A6 card I made using Wild Heart kit.

Amanda has a great post about coloring on dark card stock. Click here to check out that post.

A2 size card

A2 card is 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″

Cut standard card stock in half  5 1/2 ” length wise and score at 4 1/4 “. Two cards bases will come from a standard sheet of card stock.  Another way to do an A2 card is to make your cut width wise at 4 1/4″ and score at 5 1/2”. This will give you a top folding card. As well as two card bases from on sheet of card stock.

Here is the sample of a portrait A2 card I made using March 2017 SMAK.

A1 size card

A1 card is 3 1/2″ x 4 7/8″

Cut standard card stock length wise at 4 7/8″ and width wise at 7″. Score at 3 1/2″.

Here is the sample I made using Damn Girl kit and the script background came from Hug kit.

ATC (Artist Trading Card)

ATC is 2 1/2 x 3 1/2

ATC’s came to life in 1997. By a Swiss artist. He called it a Collaborative Cultural Performance. ATCs are the same size as modern trading cards like hockey or baseball cards. ATC’s are self-made works of art. That are signed/dated by the artist on the back of the card and then exchanged and collected by the people who participate in trading them. For this ATC I used Collection Of Moments kit.  Itty Bitty’s work great for ATCs.

There are many different card sizes to explore. Like I said before, an A2 is my go to for its economical value but after making all of these sizes I am going to incorporate a variety of sizes. Especially for those extra special cards I make for the special peeps in my life. After making all of these cards. I realized, I favor a portrait style card. Do you prefer one over the other? Portrait vs landscape. Have you made different card sizes? It is fun to mix it up a bit and try something new. You can get envelopes for all of these sizes as well. Other size options would be a square 5×5 card or an square 3×3 card.

I hope you found some inspiration exploring different card sizes with me. If you missed last weeks stamping therapy post. You can click here and it will take you to that blog post. Clean and simple cards using the spotlight technique. That is our time for today!

Thank you so much for joining me this Thursday.

Until next time, stamp on!
