Clean and Simple Watercolor Wash Backgrounds

March 25, 2018 - by Amanda Garrett

Clean and Simple Watercolor Wash Backgrounds

Hi all and welcome back to another STEP IT OUT SUNDAY.

Happy Sunday to you all. Today I am going to walk you through doing something so clean and simple. You can add to it to make it look more complex, or you can leave it just they way it is and it’s still beautiful.

Lets get started!

Kit used  Bryna Girl

Sentiment  Hanna Girl

This is so simple and yet has a beautiful look to it.

I stamped Bryna girl out on Canson watercolor paper and just used my water brush and added the different colors. After my 3 colors were added I went back with my water brush and brushed between the colors to get a mix of the 2 to make them blend well.

SO cute and SO simple!

I then used a Gina Marie Design Die to cut out the watercolor paper and glued it down to my card base! SIMPLE!

Clean and Simple card number 2 is….

Kit used Little by little

Sentiment Hugs Kisses Birthday wishes

Just like the first card washed on my color not wanting to fill in all the space to let it have jagged edges to give it interest. I then stamped my little penguin on watercolor paper and colored him up, then fussy cut him and the Balloon out. Clean and Simple, yet a little more effort involved!

I added wink of stella to the balloon to give it some shimmer and shine. The same die from Gina Marie Designs was used.

Clean and Simple card number 3…

Kit used Cuddlebug Unicorn

Sentiment Hugs Kisses Birthday Wishes

Same thing was done with this clean and simple card. But this time I colored  a little more of the background. I stamped this CUTE little Unicorn out on water color paper watercolored her up and fussy cut her out.

Just a hint if you haven’t used water colors before and want to give it a try be sure a ink that will not bleed with water. I use StazOn jet black it is a solvent ink so it wont bleed with the water.

So I can’t just do Clean and Simple cards, I have to throw a little curve ball at you. With all the fun lives that Angela has been doing I figured you might enjoy a little mix media tag with Phyllis Harris.

Kit used Let Go

Senitment Happy

random stamps used Hello it’s me

Hello Beautiful

I used a texture past and Tim Holtz stencils  and picked parts to put texture down and let it dry.

I then used Distress Crayons and put a wash of color down over the texture.

I then took my mixed media stamps and stamped random on the tag.

For the little girl from the let go kit I watercolored her and then fussy cut her out.

I heat embossed the Happy Birthday and glued that down added string around the tag and put the girl on pop-dots.

A little more difficult then the other 3 Clean and Simple cards but it was fun!

I sure hope you give this a try and if you do be sure to tag me in the Unity Show and Tell so I can enjoy your BEAUTIFUL creations!

Well that’s all from me today. If you missed last weeks blog about Mixing Techniques? Follow the link and check it out!
