Hello crafty friends. Today, I have a faux tile technique in two different styles to share with you today for this Thursday stamping therapy session with a video tutorial.
Here is a look at the cards I made in the video.
What is your card making style? More of a clean and simple or vintage/distressed. I love both styles but probably lean more to the distressed side. In the video tutorial I will be doing both styles of the faux tile technique. A clean and simple card and a distressed card.

Faux tile technique in two different styles
This is a fun and quick technique that adds a lot of interest to card designs. I can’t decide which one I like better? I love the distressed butterfly but I am also in love with the clean white subway tile look. Who doesn’t love a white subway tile? Here is a closer look of each card.
One trick to this technique is not to press to hard when stamping the image. You want your score lines to appear has grout lines. So you have the look of tile. As you seen in the video the bolder stamp required a stamping platform. It doesn’t quite achieve the tile look when the score lines get stamped with ink. You want the image to only stamp on the tiles you created. Regular acrylic blocks work fine with images that are not solid. The trick is remembering to not press the stamp super hard onto the card panel but, enough to get a good stamped image.
The sentiment for this card came from Amazing Things kit. Here is one last sample I made. I couldn’t get over the subway tile so I had to make another clean and simple one. Surprised I didn’t make another distressed one. I will probably make another one soon.
The stamps I used for this card came from March 2018 Kit of the Month- Stay Classy. I thought the tulip stamp in this kit worked perfectly for this technique.
I hope you found some inspiration looking at the faux tile technique in two different styles. If you try this technique out for yourself, tag me over on the Unity Show and Tell Facebook group. I would love to see what you make with this technique. I love seeing your creations so much. If you missed last weeks stamping therapy post. Thank you so much for joining me this Thursday.
Until next time, stamp on!
