Hello, it’s Gaylynn here with another installment of my Watercolor Wednesday series. I will show a way to use watercolor pencils with stamping.
For today’s project, I created a card with watercolor pencils and a stamped flower. This is another fun and easy way to create using watercolor.
Sentiment: You are amazing. Happy birthday.

I made a video tutorial for this card, showing you a way to use watercolor pencils with stamping. It includes instructions along the way throughout the video, however, a written process follows below.
Inktense Watercolor Pencils with Stamping

(See also the video tutorial for this project.)
To begin, stamp onto watercolor paper with waterproof ink. I like Ranger Archival Ink in jet black. Heat set or let dry completely.
Using watercolor pencils, lightly apply color only to the folds of each flower petal. I used Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils for this example.
Wet a stiff brush or narrow watercolor brush. Gently pull the color from the folds outward on
each petal. Dry between different colors if you prefer.
Repeat the pencils with alternating colors for a variegated flower look. Continue the same brush
process.
I switched watercolor brushes midway. Use what you are most comfortable with. For smaller areas,
try not to saturate the paper with water.
I dab the wet brush onto a paper towel before blending out the pencil color.
Finally, I cut out the dried flower to place onto a prepared card base. Sentiments were added
to finish.
Here is another look at my flower birthday card using watercolor pencils.
