Rubber Brayer Backgrounds

March 12, 2018 - by Houses Built of Cards

Rubber Brayer Backgrounds

Good morning! Heather here today to pull out a tool that hasn’t seen much love lately in my craft room and create some fun backgrounds for some beautiful Unity Stamp Company images! I can’t remember the last time I used a Rubber Brayer – and thought it was high time I pulled it out again! I’m so glad I did – I definitely want to play with it more now!

It was so fun and easy to vary the inks, colors, and direction and pressure of the brayer to get a fun artsy background. I did these in single colors – but want to play more with varying the colors. I think the way these patterns came out could almost have a plaid effect just by varying and alternating the colors.

Here is a video showing the brayer in action, and how I created my cards today:

For the bike image on these cards, I used Enjoy this Day, and the sentiments all came from the March 2016 Sentiment Kit – Sometimes I Wonder. Here is a closer look at each card:

Do you have a favorite look from these different inks? Or a favorite color?

Hope you decide to try this technique! Would love to see what you create! Thanks for stopping by – and have a wonderful day!
