Happy stamping therapy Thursday! Welcome back to another session of stamping fun to soothe the soul. Today I have a video tutorial for you. Using alcohol inks with stamps. This technique works great on solid image stamps. Think larger silhouette stamps.
The large poppy in this kit works perfectly for this technique. The poppy stamp has a large enough surface to let the alcohol ink do the magic.
Kits used
Donna Poppies, She Never Says Never, and Time to be Happy Again kits.
Using Alcohol inks with stamps
Alcohol inks make amazing backgrounds but also can be used with stamps. It makes for a beautiful colored stamped images with lots of texture and color variation with minimal effort. The alcohol ink does the work for you. It’s like magic watching it work. Alcohol inks were used a lot back in the day with stamping for backgrounds and such, but have recently made a come back into the stamping world.
Here is another great silhouette stamp to use with alcohol inks. I used the same technique in the video to make this card. Using different colors and stamps. I used two Donna Downey stamp kits Hollyhocks and Imperfection is Beauty. Alcohol ink colors I used are Tim Holtz wild plum, sunshine yellow, patina, and pitch black. It almost looks like watercolor. Except more vivid in color.
It even works with two step stamping stamps. I love how bold the colors are with this flower. I used You are This and Hug kits for this card. Alcohol inks I used are pink sherbet, flamingo, wild plum, limeade, and lettuce. I stamped the outline of the leaves and stem in StazOn cloudy sky.
I hope you found some inspiration using alcohol inks with stamps. If you try this technique out for yourself, tag me over on the Unity Show and Tell Facebook group. I would love to see what you make with this technique. I love seeing your creations so much. If you missed last weeks stamping therapy post.
