Good morning! Heather here today to share this trio of happy cards, and a few tricks for adding some interest to your cards by creating dimensional sentiment banners in 3 different ways – all with no die cuts needed!
I have said it so many times before – but I absolutely adore the monthly sentiment kits from Unity – they are SOOOO versatile! The images included are always fabulous – and the sentiments are great to use as add ons with all your other Unity Sets! The May kit was particularly fun, and I couldn’t miss the chance to play with it for my cards today!
Here is my video sharing how to create these banners:
What do you think? Which version of the banner do you like best?
After completing the video, I adhered the houses with foam adhesive to match well with the dimensional banners.
Here is a closer look at each of the options – first up, the simple raised sentiment strip:
Then the slightly stepped up version – still very simple, but a bit more of a design impact:
And finally, the more complicated, but totally fun version! I still share a trick or two in the video to make it even easier:
Machine stitching is a simple way to add an extra touch around the border of the background pattern paper. I also found that simpler patters for the house portion worked best – if the design of the paper was too busy, the detail of the houses got lost a bit.
Finally, I layered a couple different sizes of coordinating puffy heart stickers on the door to finish off. It covers up the stamped heart image that is on there to begin with, but adds a tiny special focal point that helps the cards “pop” a bit!
Thanks for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day!
