Bible Journaling with Unity Stamps

August 24, 2018 - by Mandi Mance

Bible Journaling with Unity Stamps

Hello Friends! It’s Mandi here with another Mix It Up post.

Today I  thought I would share some Bible Journaling with you. I love using my Unity Stamps in my Bible. I am using this lovely Phyllis Harris stamp as my main image called Strong & Courageous (Girl).  Phyllis designs the most amazing stamps and they are perfect for Bible Journaling.

This set is adorable and it has one of my favourite Bible verses. When life gets beautifully messy and I am feeling overwhelmed. It is good to be reminded that God is always with us.

First I will walk you through how I prepare my pages. If I am using anything wet on my Bible I like to prep my page with some clear Liquitex Gesso. This prevents bleed through on to the other side of the page. It also thickens your page up since Bible pages are often thin and delicate. I put a craft sheet under the page I am working on, then apply one thin coat with a paint brush and dry it with my heat tool. Using Gesso can sometimes make your page look a bit bumpy once it is dry but that is totally normal.

Next  I take my stamp and stamp directly on to my bible.

I use Archival ink as that is what works best for me.

I used my Jane Davenport Watercolours, the Bright and Neutral Palettes along with a water brush. I like to dry my page in between each colour I use so that the colours do not run. Watercolours can also sometimes pool if I use too much water. You can see that big pool of brown on the Lion. This is because the colour is sitting on top of the page and not soaking in due to the Gesso coating. So I just take a paper towel and mop it up.

Once my page was painted and completely dry.  I took the small heart cluster stamp from the Everything Joyful & Beautiful kit. Then stamped around the edges of my page using the GKD White Pigment Ink. This leaves a light heart detail in the background. I find this ink takes a while to dry so I used my heat tool to speed things along.

Finally I stamped my Bible verse with archival ink on to some white card.

Then fussy cut it out and glued it to my page.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my process of Bible Journaling.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a lovely day!
