Hello, it’s Gaylynn here with another installment of my Watercolor Wednesday series. Today, I am sharing a way to add watercolor swashes to a card background.
Today’s technique focuses on one way to add decorative watercolor swashes in card making. This trendy style provides an artsy look to card making, mixed media and paper crafts.

I made a quick video tutorial for this card. It includes instructions along the way throughout the video. However, a written process follows below.
Watercolor Swashes Wish Card

(See also the video tutorial for this project.)
To begin, stamp and emboss a big wish word and a heart onto trimmed watercolor paper.
I stamped with ColorBox ink in three colors. Then I heat embossed with clear embossing powder.
On the heart, add two of the colors for a blended look. Heat set.
Add swashes with water. Then add dabs of color into the water puddles.
Do the same with a second color. Allow the colors to blend and move where they meet.
Dab excess puddles. Heat set. Then add the colors again.
Add splatters and sequins to finish.
Here is another look at the card.
