Hi guys! Welcome to my second post for Color Combos with Crystal using Gold Embossing! I wanted to create a series of cards that would use a common and very accessible product to use in coordination with Unity Stamps.
I have felt that black and gold always made a great combo, and what better way to add some dimension than by stamping on acetate.
For this card I am using the super fun stamp set called Step Out Peony. This set is a layering one and using it beyond layers was one of my goals too!
So before I begin, I have a few pointers about stamping on acetate.
- There are heat resistant acetate sheets, I am not using these on this project. Just be sure to pre-heat your gun for 30 seconds or so to prevent having to spent too much time blowing hot air on the sheet as it will warp.
- If your sheet warps, add a bit of heat to warm it up, then press with a book or something heavy to straighten it.
- Embossing powder sticks to the sheet, use a dryer sheet and/or embossing buddy to remove the clingyness. <—–Is that a new crafty term? lol!
Ok, now that I got that out of the way, let me tell you how I made this card.
- Trim black cardstock 4.25 x 5.50 in.
- Trim acetate to 4.25 x 5.75 in, and score at the top .25 inch
- Stamp, and heat emboss the sentiment on the black cardstock with the gold embossing powder
- Adhere acetate sheet to the back of the black cardstock with heavy duty adhesive such as score tape.
- Stamp, and heat emboss the flowers, removing excess of powder with a brush.
- Adhere the entire panel to the cardbase.
- Enjoy!
The card is extremely difficult to photograph, but the gold and black is a stunning effect.
I hope you enjoy this project tutorial, I of course can show you better than I can tell you. So without further ado, here is the video.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
