Quick Card – Minimal Coloring

January 17, 2019 - by Laura Mooney

Quick Card – Minimal Coloring

Welcome

Welcome back to your friendly Quick Card party. Today I have a quick card for you that has just a hint of color. Best yet, it only took me 13:36

The Project

You don’t always need to spend a lot of time layering color, shading, and blending to get a pretty card with a *boop* of color. This week I’ll show you that you can add a few dabs of color here and there, yet still make a big impact.

For this card I used Difficult Roads, by Gracielle, my scallop stitch die, Gansai Tambi watercolors, and I later added some twine. I love this little jar filled with cute flowers. They really only need just a hint of paint.

After die cutting my paper, I stamped the main image.

Then I added just a little paint on one side of each flower and down one side of the jar. And then to finish it, I added just a hint of shadow under the jar. This step is important so my jar doesn’t look like it’s just floating there.

Next, I stamped my sentiment and wrapped it with a bit of twine, to help it stand out. Then I matted on black, but could have matted on the purple or blue. And there you have it, a quick card with some pops of color

The Challenge

For this week’s challenge, use minimal coloring. Look at you image and decide where you could color just a bit, yet still make a big impact. Be sure to upload your project to the Unity Show and Tell FB page before January 24th. I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Stamp on!
