Hey guys, Crystal Thompson here for Unity with Color Combos with Crystal. Today’s color combo we’ll be using all the primary colors. We are going to use the gorgeous stamp set Every Single Day along with the sentiment “today we celebrate you”.
Here are the materials that we are going to use for this project:
- Zig watercolor markers – primary colors
- Watercolor paper
- Brush
- Black watercolor friendly ink
- 2 pcs embossing cardstock or watercolor cardstock, whatever you have
So let’s get started!
We’re going to begin by stamping up the gorgeous floral by Every Single Day. Let’s start on the piece of paper that we had cut that’s big enough to fit most of our florals, as I wanted to use all of our primary colors.
Next, we’re going to stamp the same floral off to the right, trying to get all the flowers onto that piece of cardbase. And then we’re going to start filling the other card base that have not been stamped with same florals. Just feel free turn over and get the leaves, ink up the other corners and repeat onto the other corner. Don’t worry if there are some white spots, that’s okay.
Once the white and the black have come through, we’re going to begin with our largest floral and we’ll be using red. First, put some watercolor marker into an acrylic block, then create the shading and the variances and color.
To do some shading, begin water coloring with the darkest first to create the shadow which is really what people liked to see when you’re doing single color for one image.
Now. we’re going to move on to using a different color. We’re going to dry up our brush and just keep coloring the entire floral. The reason why I wanted to use these primary colors is because everybody has some. If you don’t have watercolor markers, you can use your watercolor pads, or inks that are water based. Again, just put the ink on a piece of acrylic then grab with it with your brush.
Next, we’re going to color the other flower. We’re going to start with the shadow using the blue and then coming in with just a tiny bit and filling in those shadows, then flickering out to create those gorgeous petal.
Then, we’re going to move onto the next flower which is going to be a yellow. This one is a little tougher to see the shading, but we’re going to repeat the process to create the shadow with the marker itself, and then coming in with the color on our acrylic block. It makes it really easy, I like to do this instead of copic coloring. It just goes a lot faster with less shading.
Time to move on to the leaves! I’ve added a green to all the leaves. Once we’re done with that, add a little bit of yellow onto the center of the biggest flower and we are place sentiment strip.
Let’s create the sentiment strip by using the embossing ink, stamp the stamp set on the piece of black embossing cardstock, cover the entire thing with white embossing powder and then heat set it. Then, let trim the embossing into a little strip, place our colored embossing cardstock over the black and white while matching the outlines of the flowers. Last step would be to stick on the sentiment over it and that does it!
Thanks so much for joining me as we use primary colors today!
