Hi there! Today we are creating with a pastel color combination and making a DIY card background by masking with purple tape. This technique is a fun way to create your favorite color combinations into one card.
This is a great way to use a sentiment stamp without having to do any coloring. For this, you will be needing the following:
- Purple Tape or Washi
- Include Yourself in Beauty
- Dye Ink Pads
- Ink Blenders
- Sequins
- Colored Cardstock
- Watercolor Cardstock
I’d seen a patterned paper very similar to this and I just had to try to figure out how to make it.
To start, I cut my watercolor cardstock 1/4 inch smaller than the color card base. Then I masked the card with equal spacing to leave the exposed watercolor paper for the stripes.
With my dye inks, I stamped them on acetate and then grabbed the color with a brush and exchanging each color between the exposed lines.
While that is drying, stamp the sentiment in coral and then ink blend the edges with the blue color. Place everything together and then finish up with coral sequins.
I created this tutorial video to fully show you how I made this awesome background.
Be sure to let me know in the video comments your thoughts, and if you recreate this, tag me. I love to see what you create.
