Hello, my dear Unies. September is in full swing, but I am still holding on to the last bits of summer. Recently I came across this photo I took during a graduation party about two months ago. As I looked at it, I was inspired by so many of its elements. Number one, the colors were incredible. That yellow with the pops of fuschia made me swoon! Secondly, that double-stacked floral immediately made me want to grab all my floral kits. I decided to share this picture with you to see if it inspires you to make something fantastic. I hope you will join me in this photo inspiration challenge.
Color Inspiration
One of the easiest ways to do a photo inspiration challenge is to feature the colors in the picture in your project. While this card is not related to the floral subject matter, I used the colors from the palette in my feather design.
The great thing about feathers is they can be any color, really. The Feather-Soft Love kit is so easy to color. I wish you could see the shimmer I put on here to make that feather look iridescent. That incredible strip sentiment is from the Gracielle kit, Hanging Botanicals–a must-have in my opinion.
Image Inspiration
A focal image is another good way to create using photo inspiration. If you are anything like me, you saw those Rudbeckia flowers and grabbed your “Soul Joy” kit. Dear goodness, I love a brown-eyed Susan. But, I said to myself, ‘Shannon, put down the Soul Joy and ink up something new!’ So I pulled out a brand-new kit I hadn’t inked up yet called Blooming Peonies. Honestly, the stamp is stinking huge! I love how the tangly stems felt like the wildness of the picture. As I am writing this, I just thought of how amazing the kit In My Garden would be for this challenge as well! I went pretty literal with the colors as well, but I just adore a sunny yellow flower.
The Challenge:
1. Use the Photo for Inspiration: Take any element of the photo and use your Unity stamps to create something wonderful! Color, focal image, layout, theme–the world is your oyster.
2. Post your creation: Remember to post your work to the Unity Show and Tell Album called Photo Inspiration Challenge.
3. Encourage others: Make sure to check in often and comment on the other entries in the challenge. We put so much love and effort into our creations. Make sure you comment to others how much you value that!
