Hi there! Today we are creating a Traditional Christmas Color Combo card using two beautiful stamp sets. For the sentiment, we are using last’s week favorite of Old Fashion Holiday Love and then using the beautiful dove from a sympathy set called Mourning Dove. This dove is such a lovely image that I felt it would fit quite nicely with a Christmas Card as dove signifies peace.
For this project we will need:
- Mourning Dove stamp set + Old Fashion Holiday Love
- White and Red Cardstock
- Markers
- White Nuvo Drops
- Black Ink
- Purple Masking Tape
To begin we are trimming the cardstocks. First the red cardstock to 5.50 by 4.25 then the white cardstock 5.25 by 4.00. These are going to be mat with flat adhesive.
We will begin by stamping the Dove in black ink and the sentiment. When that is all dry we will begin with the masking tape and masking layers and coming in with our markers to get those clean lines. Be careful to not touch on the inside of the Dove as we will not be coloring it at all. I ended up using 4 colors, Dark Red, Red, Light Green, and Dark Green. The coloring was very simple, with no layering or blending one.
To finish up the card, we added white Nuvo drops to create some contrast of colors and add some dimension. I have a full video tutorial on how to make more of your cardmaking with masking.
