Good morning! I’m back today for the weekly Monday feature for me here on the Unity Stamp Company Blog! So happy to be featuring the AMAZING Unity Kit of the Month set on Mondays here on the blog. These kits are always AMAZING, and they hold a special place in my heart since they were the first thing I purchased from Unity, and what got me hooked on Unity to begin with. Who DOESN’T love getting a happy package of stamps in the mail every month, right? And these kits just keep getting better and better. You can read all the details and info to sign up HERE, and see this month’s kit as well.
Today I’m sharing how to create this soft and simple watercolor style butterfly background – and a super perfect sentiment for what’s been going on not only in the world, but in my life as well. In addition to all the craziness of the pandemic in the world, my mom was taken to the ER last week with what turned out to require gallbladder surgery. We were told that just 24 hours later and she wouldn’t have survived. So very grateful she is doing better now, but it was a crazy few days. And because of the rules due to the Covid-19 virus, none of us (not even my dad) has been able to see her since she was taken to the hospital last Wednesday. So hard to be apart during times like this – so this sentiment was perfect to sum it all up!
Here is the video for this week sharing how I created this card:
You can see it all come together in the video, but to sum it up, I made sure my watercolor paper was slightly damp, then stamped the images on with distress ink, which allowed them to react with the water and give a slightly softened effect.
Sentiment is on vellum, to lay over that background, and then a simple fine line Sharpie was used to freehand draw on the frame around the edges!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope to see you back here next week – have a wonderful week!
