Hi there! Crystal Thompson here with a Color Combos with Crystal post making some very cool and easy color combinations to match the background the coloring of the image we are using. Today’s selected stamp is of course from Unity Stamp Co. and it is called Words of Hope.
To begin I have stamped the image WORDS OF HOPE on to a normal 110lb white cardstock. I would like to note that I did not use watercolor cardstock just so I could keep the coloring easy and without a lot of layers. I then used my Zig Clean Color Markers to add one layer of color to the Orchids, but the rest of the coloring will continue.
Now grab a piece of acetate or plastic packaging and use your selected ink, in my case it is BERRY BURST from Stampin Up. I placed the ink on the plastic grabbed my water brush and added a couple layers of color to the orchids. Don’t put the watercolor away, we are now going to use on out 4.25 x 5.50 cardstock, splattering the card panel until it really is fully covered. Set aside to dry as we move on to the next step.
Now I like playing with layers so I grabbed a Studio Katia background die, ran it through the die cutting machine with the same type of cardstock I used above. Then with the Berry Burst ink, I then ink blended the corners of the card and feathered out towards the center. Leaving it pretty clean and simple.
We are ready to assemble our card. So I have some foam pieces on the back of my cover die here. I’m going to place it down over the dried DIY splatters and make sure it is completely dry. Then add the sentiment, “how are you? ” stamped with the Berry Burst Ink , and with foam adhesive, I added a bit of on the back just to give that some dimension and raise it up.
We are going to add the gorgeous floral from WORDS OF HOPE with foam adhesive as well and finishing up with some sparkle, by using Nuvo drops Purple Glitter.
Thank you so much for joining me today. I hope you’ve enjoyed this tutorial doing some DIY background splatters using some of the newest unity stamps and some old these of course.
