Hello Friends!
Welcome back to another week of the “Summer Lovin’ Challenge!” I hope you all have TONS of ideas sizzlin’ in your head for this month’s challenge!
Today I’m sharing a project using one of my favorite ocean creatures- Mermaids! What do you think? Are mermaids real or just fantasy? I’ve spent plenty of summers by the ocean and I’ve not seen one as of yet, but we should always be on the lookout in the presence of wonder………..
For this week’s project I made a card using the stamp kit Adella Girl .
If mermaids are real, Adella would be EXACTLY how I’d envision one to appear.
Here’s how I made this card:
- I started off with my card base in light blue that was cut at 4 ½ x 8 ½- scored in the middle. The mat was cut from white smooth cardstock cut at 4 x 5 ¼.
- I had the PERFECT stencil I wanted to use that reminds me of a mermaid’s tail. I inked up the pattern –focusing on the bottom right hand corner of the card. I used two colors Peacock Feathers and Tumbled glass. I left the top left corner white so I could add the sentiment.
- Adella was then inked up using Gina K’s amalgam ink and stamped onto white cardstock. She was colored using Prismacolor pencils and gamsol and then fussy cut.
- For the sentiment, I first stamped it using Hero Art’s Unicorn white ink pad and then embossed with Tim Holtz’ Alibaster embossing powder. I found doing this really gives the sentiment a crisp, white appearance. I then fussy sentiment.
- The stenciled mat was then adhered to the light blue cardstock base. I popped Adella up using a foam dot and glued the sentiment to the top right corner.
- A few teal and purple sequins adds just a bit of bling!
Now it’s YOUR turn! Perhaps you have a favorite sea creature or summer color that you love? Whether it’s tropical fish, lighthouses, the color of the Caribbean sea– even yummy ice cream on a hot summer’s day- I know there’s a BUNCH of ideas that you can think of to create a summer themed project!
Don’t forget to upload your works of art to the “Summer Lovin’ Challenge Album” over at Unity Show & Tell!
Have an “ink”redible week and I’ll see you back here next Thursday with another Summer Lovin’ creation!
