Good morning! I’m back today for the weekly Monday feature for me here on the Unity Stamp Company Blog! So happy to be featuring the AMAZING Unity Kit of the Month set on Mondays here on the blog. These kits are always AMAZING, and they hold a special place in my heart since they were the first thing I purchased from Unity, and what got me hooked on Unity to begin with. Who DOESN’T love getting a happy package of stamps in the mail every month, right? And these kits just keep getting better and better. You can read all the details and info to sign up HERE, and see this month’s kit as well.
Today I’m sharing a simple technique for a unique look that mimics a pencil sketch – and for someone like me that cannot create such art on my own, I am so grateful for stamps that allow me to recreate the look!
Here is the video for this week sharing how I created this card:
I just loved how this image looked like a hand drawn pencil sketch already, and started thinking of ways to enhance that look even more. Double stamping with two shades of gray ink slightly offset from each other was a perfect way to start! Then some colored pencils shading around the image to highlight it was the perfect way to add to that effect.
At first I was only going to color the flowers to add a spot of color, but couldn’t resist blinging them out a bit with some sparkly jewels – and then at the end I colored the lips and added some sparkle over the top. Can you see the shadow and shading effects in this photo?
I die cut the word for the front of my card – layering up 3 white die cuts and one black for dimension, then adding sparkly and Glossy Accents over the top for a fun dimensional embellishment.
I also added some of the same Nuvo drops as the lips on the hearts to finish off the front, before mounting with foam on a white cardbase. Such a simple and understated card, but I love the final effect!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope to see you back here next week – have a wonderful week!
