I’ve created this card as another example of how this color combination can be used in expanding your holiday card inventory! Inspired by some beautiful patterned papers, by LemonCraft, I recently found, I decided to create this composite image using stamps from Unity’s Poinsettia With Love kit and their September Kit of the Month, Elements of the Holiday.
I started by stamping the poinsettia using Watering Can Archival ink onto Arches watercolor paper. I then used my Schmincke watercolors to add blues and blue greens and gray. I flushed out the leaves a little more and used red pens for the berries. When satisfied, I embossed 3 ornaments from the KOM using a red embossing powder and fussy cut them out to fit “into” the poinsettia leaves. I added shading to the ornaments with gray paint.
Before adhering the ornaments I first added clear crystal embossed (by Crafter’s Companion) and Ranger Silver embossed snowflakes from the sentiment kit over and around the image. I added pale blue color around the image in spots to make the clear snowflakes start to show up.
Finally, to finish the card, I inked the edges of the watercolor paper with red, found paper scraps I could pair with the image and I embossed the sentiment from the sentiment kit at the bottom. The card turned out very sparkly so I left it at that!
This was so fun to pull together; loved using those ornaments as decorative add ons! Be sure to try your hand at adding this color combination to your holiday inventory and post in the Challenge album!
