Have you started your holiday cards yet? I’m using Unity’s October Challenge, Warm Red/ Cool Blue to start building my collection! I pulled out Unity’s collaboration with Brutus Monroe, Sweadda Weather, for these 2 cards. I used Wow’s sparkly Cornflower and Cotton Candy embossing powders with colored paper to start things off!
The light blue sparkly powder turned out great on the blue card stock, but I mis-stamped the center of the sparkly pink impression on the red card stock. I turned to patterned paper to see what could be paired up with these papers. Mintay’s Winterland paper pad turned out to have a cool blue paper scene that I could use with an acetate window and part of the red background paper.
So, for the first card, I cut out the section of the red paper that was bad and proceeded to make my window card using the remaining portions of the paper both on the inside and outside of the card. I used red paper strips to make sure everything fit with the acetate strip. I used a sentiment stamp from Unity’s sentiment A Joyous Season kit and stamped and red embossed it onto the patterned paper where it would show through from the front. I fussy cut some items from the pad to embellish around the sentiment and this card was done!
For the second card, I paired it up with Unity’s cute Knitwear kit! I stamped the knitwear using the same embossing powders and paper, fussy cut them out and added an embossed sparkly white sentiment from Brandy & Emma Let It Snow kit! To finish off this one, I added crystals, snowflake decals and a frame around the background.
Hope this inspires you to add some blue and red cards to your holiday card inventory! Be sure to enter them into the Challenge this month for a chance at some Unity goodies!
