Embossing Textured Card

December 10, 2020 - by Joyce Verdon

Embossing Textured Card

Welcome back, it’s  Week 2 of the Texture Challenge over in Unity’s Show & Tell Facebook group! The current submitted entries are so very inspiring! However, I wanted to remind everyone, who may be a little intimidated, this challenge is really easy to tackle! Today, for instance, I used embossing powders and fancy ribbon to add texture!

For today’s inspiration, I used the beautiful Alpine Wonderland kit for the background, the fun deer from the ...Cheerful Prancing kit, and a sentiment from the oldie but goodie Holiday Treats kit. I started by stamping the background using Worn Lipstick oxide and then embossing it using Stampendous’ Shabby Pink, which, besides being sparkly, has bits of brown, white and pink in it! I then add a watercolor wash in the background combining purple, red and camel colors. I shot for a little uneveness in the wash and went from camel at the bottom to dark red at the top. I then added brown to the trees.

I then embossed the two deer using 2 different Seth Apter Baked Texture powders and fussy cut them out (could have easily used a Kraft colored ink and clear embossing powder). I embossed the sentiment and backed it with dark Kraft paper. I die cut the alpine image paper and backed it with white shimmer paper, adding twine and a frilly ribbon. I then added the deer with foam tape.and embellished the card front with Prima gold flecked dots. I mounted everything on a brown card base and called it done!

This card was very easy to put together and has more than its fair share of texture! Hope this inspires you to bring out your powders and get busy crafting!
