Hi friends! This is Sandhya of Sanju’s Creations bringing you some fresh inspiration using an alcohol ink background for the February challenge – Birthday Stash. To play along, head to the Unity Show and Tell Facebook Page and add your birthday cards to the challenge album. We have some awesome cards there already if you are looking for inspiration to get started. For my card, I used the Simply Blessed stamp set and paired it with a sentiment from the brand new kit releasing today – Gotta Love Sentiments. This kit is full of versatile sentiments for all occasions in a very fun font! Don’t forget to check it out.
About My Card
To start with, I played with Amethyst alcohol inks from Ranger on a piece of poster board. The trick to getting a light wispy look without staining on this paper is to apply a generous portion of 91 or 96% isopropyl alcohol or blending solution down before adding the concentrated alcohol ink. Then you can blow it around using a straw. Just be careful not to suck in or inhale the alcohol vapors. Once the panel was dry, I die cut it using the diagonal dash dies.
Next, I stamped the gorgeous cotton and eucalyptus arrangement from the Simply Blessed stamp set with Copic friendly ink on Neenah 80 lb cardstock. I colored it in with very light Copic markers. I wanted it to look colored, but still, let my background stand out. Then, I fussy cut the colored imaged and adhered it down on the alcohol ink panel. I wound some matching waxed cord from my stash and tied a bow.
Finally, I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Gotta Love Sentiments kit on a scrap piece of white cardstock and cut it out to make my sentiment strip. I popped it over the jar with foam tape and added some glittery enamel drops to finish my card.
Thank You
I hope you liked my birthday card for today and feel inspired to play with some alcohol inks. Looking forward to seeing your awesome creations on the challenge album on the Facebook Group. Thanks so much for stopping by and have a blessed day!
