Picture Perfect

April 2, 2021 - by Julissa Padilla

Picture Perfect

It’s a new month and time to try something new.  Hi everyone! This is Jules of Paper Gems by Jules sharing a little something that came out of nowhere.  I had a scrap piece of white paper in the size of a slimline front.  I could have made a card front with it, but decides just to make a piece of mixed media.

I sprayed the background with some Distress Oxide Sprays that I had not used in forever.  Sometimes, it’s fun to pull those old crafty supplies out and dust them off to make something new!  I added a little stencil work on opposite corners.  Splattered the whole background with White Distress Paint and edged the whole piece with white gesso.  (At this point, my craft space is a total mess. Can you relate?)

Next, it’s time to get a little coloring in.  I stamped this super cool chick called Cierra Girl from the Angie Girls line and colored her in with Copics.  I used white gel pen for her nails because I thought it would be cute.  Next, I die cut a bunch of polaroid frames in black and white card stock.  Another item that has been underused in my craft room.  Now, time to put it all together.

I layered a bunch of the polaroid frames on the right side of the piece.  Using black mini stapes, I adhered all of them except for the largest frame.  I stamped the sentiment in the inside of one of the frames and then used foam tape to adhere the frame and the stamped inside. For some final touches, I used a clear sequins, navy crystals and black sequins sporadicly on the piece.

I encourage you to pull out a stamp set, grab some scrap and do something fun!  Make something beautiful.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a crafty weekend!

Jules
