Floral – Happy Birthday

July 22, 2021 - by Natasha Vacca

Floral – Happy Birthday

Hi crafty friends, I am super excited to be back today to share with you another floral card for our monthly challenge!  I am truly inspired by your gorgeous cards! Please continue to share them with us over on the Unity {show & tell} facebook group! For today’s card I am using the new July flower of the month by Sandhya Iyer – July Larkspurs.  So let’s get started!

I started by stamping the July Larkspurs onto Fabriano Hot Press watercolor card.  This is my favorite paper to use with my karin markers.  I then colored my floral image.  I always work in layers and allow each layer to dry between watercoloring.  I find this gives me the best results.  Once my floral was colored, I did add a gray wash of color around the outside of the image.  I then die cut this using a mini slim line die from Gina Marie Designs.  I set this aside and started to work on my background.

I chose a gelli plate background I had from my stash.  I liked the colors of greens, yellows, and browns within it, I felt it coordinated well with my floral colors.  I wanted to add a bit more texture to this panel so I used the stamp set – Take Care of You.  I prepped the background for heat embossing, then inked the stamp using an embossing ink pad.  I then stamped the image in a random pattern on the background and heat set this using Egyptian Turquoise powder from WOW.

I then stamped the sentiment from In my Thoughts, Girl onto the vase using Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink. I then adhered the slimline panel/flower onto my gelli plate background.  I then trimmed the excess of the white panel on the top and bottom using my scissors. To complete the card I adhered the gelli plate background onto a kraft card base, then added a few enamel dots and completed it with some May Arts twine – Natural.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I can’t wait to see more of your floral cards!  Be sure to share them with us over on the  Unity {show & tell} facebook group!  I’ll be back next week with some more floral inspiration!
