Hello friends! This is Sandhya, and today I am sharing this Season of Change Mix-Media card I made with stamps from the July Kit of the Month. This circular stamp inspired me to create a grunge mix media look for my card. So stepping away from my usual floral designs, I played with some distress inks, distress oxides, and stamps from past SMAK kits.
Season of Change Mix-Media Card Details
First, I started with some watercolor paper and used my gel plate to create an inky background. I used pink, teal, and yellow ink pads to build the background and brayered it smooth before pulling the print. Next, I stamped the circular stamp 3 times and die cut them out with a circle die. I added more ink to the edges of the circles in the corresponding colors so that the edges are darker than the center.
Next, I worked on building layers on my background panel. First, I blended some Pumice Stone Distress oxide and then added some Antique Linen. Next, I used the postmark stamps from the March ’20 SMAK kit to add marks to stamp randomly on the background with Ground Expresso Distress Oxide Ink. I trimmed the panel to 6″X3″. Finally, I rubbed the Ground Expresso ink pad along the edges of the panel and blended it along the edges for a distressed look. I also added some stenciling with Speckled Egg Distress Oxide and added some parks with a white gel pen.
Once I was happy with the background, I stamped the sentiment on a scrap piece of cardstock and ripped it to size. I stapled it down along with a piece of jute twine on the circle die cut I planned to position in the center. Next, I popped up the circle elements on the finished panel with foam tape. I attached the panel to a mini-slimline card base and finished off with some colorful sequins.
