Hi friends! It is Natasha and I am super excited to be back with you today! Wow – summer sure is going quickly, but I am am ready to hold onto summer for a bit longer! How about you? So let’s get our Summer themed stamps out and hold onto this warm weather a bit longer! Our Thursday challenge is all about celebrating summer! How do you celebrate summer? Do you travel, beach days, family trips, relax? I can’t wait to see how you celebrate summer this month! Be sure to share your summer themed cards with us over on over on the Unity {show & tell} facebook group!
Let’s get started with today’s card. I am using the super fun and adorable stamp set called One Scoop at a Time! I love this set! Summer always reminds me of a yummy ice cream cone, so I thought this set was a fun way to celebrate summer!
I started by stamping the ice cream cone and 4 scoops of ice cream onto Bristol watercolor card stock. I used Versafine Ink in Nocturne to stamp the images. Once everything was stamped I taped the card stock to a hard board to prevent warping and started to watercolor. For today’s project I am using my Tombow Dual Brush pens. I used 2 layers of color for each stamped image. I always allow each layer to dry before adding the next color! Once everything was colored, I trimmed each of the images and set these aside. Did you know Unity also has digital cut files for many of their stamps? Check it out here!
Next I started to work on my background! I love bright colors and and wanted to create a fun, bright background for my ice cream cone! For the background I used 2 water brush pens with liquid watercolor to create the background. I placed a small amount of ink on my glass mat in yellow spritzed with water and “smooshed” my paper onto the ink. I then did the same with a red color. I then repeated the process until I had the colors I was looking for. I then set the background aside to dry.
Once everything was dry, I wanted to add a bit more texture and interest to the background. I used a confetti stencil with some glitter glaze. Once this was dry, I then die cut the panel using a Nested Scallop Slimline die. I then stamped a sentiment from the One Scoop at a Time set. I then adhered the cone and scoops of ice cream, using both liquid glue and foam tape. Finally I adhered the panel to a yellow card base.
I had a lot of fun creating this card! I can’t wait to see how you celebrate summer! Be sure to show us your fun summer cards over on the Unity {show & tell} facebook group page!
I’ll be back next week!
Crafty Hugs,
Natasha
