Die Cutting Patterned Paper

September 3, 2021 - by Julissa Sargo

Die Cutting Patterned Paper

Happy Friday!  I hope you’ve all had a wonderful start to this new month.  Well, speaking of new beginnings, this card was inspired by a soon-to-be new mom that is having a little girl.  She loves vintage things and I wanted to make something with more of a “old paper” feel.  Using “Kendra Girl” stamp set and “Tuscan Textures” patterned paper, I created a delicate scene for this mom-to-be.

To start, I stamped the Kendra Girl and colored her using the dusty rose colored Copics.  By leaving white spots in her hair, it gives the illusion of shiny hair because this momma is glowing!  Because I was going to be. using more of the ivory/beige. colors, I fussy cut her without leaving the white outline.  (Helpful Tip:  When you cut at the black edge of a stamped image, use a black marker that doesn’t bleed on the edge to color the white core of the paper.)

Next, I cut the script printed paper of the Tuscan Textures paper pack to 4″ x 5.25″ and used Vintage Photo Distress Ink to add some aging to the edge.  Next, I. used a floral die and die cut this layered floral.  Because it. wall all cut from the same colored paper, I used Victorian Velvet Distress Ink for the florals.  For the larger part of the flower, I’d only shade the. edges and for the smaller parts, I’d ink them up.  For the leaves, I used Iced Spruce & Shabby Shutters Distress Inks.  For the centers of the florals and the sentiment, I used more of the Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  These soft colors compliment the soft white paper and the dusty rose colored blouse on Kendra Girl.

I definitely encourage you to pull out some of that fun patterned paper from previous Whit Kits or just some that are recently release for not just backgrounds, but die cuts as well!

Thanks so much for stopping by today and I truly hope you’ve found some inspiration.  Until next time…

Happy Crafting!
