Poinsettia Christmas Wishes

Poinsettia Christmas Wishes

Good morning! I’m back today for the weekly Monday feature for me here on the Unity Stamp Company Blog! So happy to be featuring the AMAZING Unity Kit of the Month set on Mondays here on the blog. These kits are always AMAZING, and they hold a special place in my heart since they were the first thing I purchased from Unity, and what got me hooked on Unity to begin with. Who DOESN’T love getting a happy package of stamps in the mail every month, right? And these kits just keep getting better and better. You can read all the details and info to sign up HERE, and see this month’s kit as well.

Today I’m sharing this bold and rustic card!

This poinsettia image is absolutely incredible – and I wanted to put it to good use, so I started off by planning my placement of the main poinsettia, stamping my sentiment at the bottom, and then stamping a background in black with the same poinsettia several times. I used a bit of Antique Linen distress ink to soften the edges, and also added some white paint splatters.

Next, I stamped that poinsettia again on white cardstock, using a soft gray ink, and left it all lined up in my MISTI. I quickly added one solid color of red to the main part of the image (no shading even!) – and a bit of warm yellow to the berries. I then put it back in my MISTI with the image in exactly the same place, and stamped over it again with Versafine ink, sprinkled clear embossing powder over it, and heat set. I did it in this order, because the black ink I used was great for embossing, not so great for Copic markers. And it was easier to color before heat embossing.

Finally, I added the main poinsettia image with foam tape on my cardbase, added a few more white paint splatters on top of the flower (and whatever went over the edges), and added a few metallic gold pearls to the center of the poinsettia image!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope to see you back here next week – have a wonderful week!
