Hi crafty friends! It is Natasha here and I am super excited to be back with you this month to celebrate our Thursday challenge! I have had such an amazing time these past 2 months and I am back this month with a new challenge! Our theme this month is All things Fall! Unity has so many amazing fall themed stamps! I can’t wait to see what you create – I know your projects will be amazing! Be sure to share your cards with us over on the Unity {show & tell} Facebook group page and add them to our Fall themed album! For today’s card I am using the Sunflower Wishes – September sentiment kit! This kit is awesome – the large sunflower is beautiful and the kit includes gorgeous sentiments, be sure to check it out!
I started by stamping the large sunflower included in the kit onto Fabriano hot press watercolor card stock. I stamped the image using Versafine Clair nocturne ink. Next I taped the paper onto my board to prevent warping. I watercolored the image using my Karin markers! I used 2 layers of color on the sunflower and 2 shades of brown in the center of the flower as well. I allowed each layer of color to dry before adding the next layer. Once everything was colored and dry I trimmed the image using my scan and cut. I added some white gel pen dots to the center, as well as gold stickles. I set this aside to work on my card background.
To create the background I started with an embossing folder on a pre-made gelli plate background. I ran the folder with the background through my die cutting machine. I wanted to add a bit more color and interest to the background, I added several shades of distress oxide inks (Gathered twigs, Ground Espresso, Walnut Stain, and Black Soot). I focused mainly on the 4 corners and blended towards the center of the embossed background. I then die cut the panel using a corner die.
Next I chose a piece of pattern paper from Unity – Rustic Farmhouse. This paper pack is beautiful and full of gorgeous papers, perfect for fall themed cards! I trimmed my paper using a rectangle die. Then I adhered my embossed panel on top and added a thin strip of pattern paper to the left side. I glued the panel onto a black card base. To complete the card I adhered the flower with foam tape and chose a sentiment from the kit.
Thank you so much for stopping by today! We will have a fun month together celebrating fall and all the gorgeous Unity stamps! I will be back next week!
Be sure to share your cards with us over on the Unity {show & tell} Facebook group page!

Natasha
