Hi everyone, it’s Colleen Balija here to share how to create a colorful background focal point! We’ll be playing with the new February Background of the Month called Peaceful Grove.
I stamped the bacakground image onto white cardstock using black permanent ink. Permanent ink is best to use if you plan to color the image, which I will be doing! Next I inked up the entire card panel using Catherine Pooler’s inks in Sauna. I started with a light hand in the center and got heavier handed with the ink as I moved to the outer part of the card panel. This creates an interesting highlight in the middle where the sentiment will be located.
Once my inking was finished, I went over the frees with my Copic markers. I used bold, bright colors to cover up the yellow dye ink beneath it and colored it a few times. Then I trimmed the card panel down and placed it over a black card panel slighly larger, and finally placed both onto a white card base. I finished with a sentiment from my Unity stash and framed it using a pretty oval scallop die.
