Masking with Dies

March 18, 2022 - by Julissa Padilla

Masking with Dies

Happy Friday, crafty friends!  This is Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules on the blog today sharing another awesome way to use the Scalloped and Rectangle Nesting dies!  Seriously, you have to get them because they are so versatile.  And today, I’m showing you how you can use these dies to make stencils!

These two cards were made using these dies and some masking paper.  I die cut the small rectangle and used both pieces.

For this card, I used the exterior part of the die cut masking paper.  I laid it over white card stock and blended in a few shades of blue and a little bit of black on the edges to make the center pop.  Once done blending in the ink, I removed the masking tape stencil and die cut the piece using the largest die of the Scallops and Rectangles Nesting die set.

To add a little texture, I splattered some Perfect Pearls diagonally over the front and then stamped the sentiment.  Using foam squares, I adhered the beautiful sunflower from the latest Kit of the Month: Never Lose Hope.  By creating this masking tape stencil, you can add layers without bulk!

For this next card, I used the inside of die cut masking tape to block off the inside of the card piece.  To add another layer of fun by using a stencil to create a pattern.  Again, a fun way to add layers, without adding bulk!

Using another beautiful image from the March 2022 Kit of the Month, I added it using some May Arts burlap string and foam tape.   And just like that, this card is ready to send!!

Unity supplies used in these two cards:

  •  March 2022 Kit of the Month: Never Lose Hope
  •  Scallops & Rectangles Nesting Dies
  •  Black May Arts Burlap String
  •  Ivory May Arts Burlap String

Thanks so much for stopping by for this quick idea on how to maximize your dies and why you NEED this amazing Scallops and Rectangles Nesting dies by Unity Stamp Company!  So make sure you get it before supplies run out!

Until Next time…

Happy Crafting!
