Good morning! I’m back today for the weekly Monday feature for me here on the Unity Stamp Company Blog! So happy to be featuring the AMAZING Unity Kit of the Month set on Mondays here on the blog. These kits are always AMAZING, and they hold a special place in my heart since they were the first thing I purchased from Unity, and what got me hooked on Unity to begin with. Who DOESN’T love getting a happy package of stamps in the mail every month, right? And these kits just keep getting better and better. You can read all the details and info to sign up HERE, and see this month’s kit as well.
Today I’m sharing my first card using the March 2022 Kit of the Month – and I love that it has a sunflower or two in it – and since my heart and mind are still heavily focused on the situation in Ukraine – AND the national flower of Ukraine is the sunflower – I couldn’t resist creating yet another card featuring the colors of the Ukrainian flag as well.
I started off by creating a background on watercolor paper with Blueprint Sketch distress ink. I blended the ink heavily on one corner, misted with a bit of water, then added some additional smooshing of color over the top to get more depth. I set that aside to dry, and then moved onto another part of the card.
I actually decided to fussy cut the flower out before I colored the image. Mostly because it had a lot of edges and such – and I was worried I’d mess up. And I didn’t want to mess up one that I’d already taken the time to color – haha! Worked great on the first try thankfully, and I was able to easily color the image as well.
I added a die cut frame from Pinkfresh Studio popped up with foam adhesive, tucked the bottom of the flower under the bottom of the frame and attached it with more foam, and then also fussy cut out the sentiment to adhere underneath. Finished off with a few coordinating jewels for a touch of sparkle!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope to see you back here next week – have a wonderful week!
