Hi friends, this is my last week covering for Heather, she’ll be back next week to share her beautiful cards! Today I’m going to show you an easy way to add color to fall leaves. We’re going to use the August Kit of the Month, called Hope is Strong, Lindy’s Magicals in Autumn Leaves, black Archival ink, and gold embossing powder. Let’s get started!
The first step was to create a colorful background using watercolor paper and Lindy’s Magicals in Autumn Leaves. You can find these magicals HERE. Using a dry paintbrush, I grabbed a tiny bit of the magicals with the brush and tapped the powder onto a dry piece of watercolor cardstock. I used all 5 of the magical colors. Then I sprayed the panel with my spray bottle and let the color move a bit. I dried it with my heat tool, which also moved the color a bit more! I was careful not to fill the entire panel with color as I like a bit of the white to show through. I think it enhances the beautiful color! Now I was ready to stamp the leaves that are included in the August Kit of the Month. There are several leaves in the kit that are perfect for this technique!
I stamped a background using two of the larger leaves in black Archival ink. I love how you can see the color peeking out from behind the leaves! Then I heat embossed A Faithful Letter background stamp in gold powder onto the card panel and die cut the panel using my deckled edge dies. I placed the card panel over a larger panel that had been colored with Lindy’s magicals. I love all that gold; it reminds me of golden leaves in the fall!
Next, I stamped the largest leaf in black ink onto a white card panel and fussy cut it. I adhered it over gold fringe and finished with that lovely sentiment from the Kit of the Month that was heat embossed in gold powder.
I have thoroughly enjoyed playing with the August Kit of the Month and trying out different techniques with you! Thank you for having me this month!
