Hey boo! Happy Friday! It’s Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules on the blog on this Freaky Friday sharing a fun way to turn the house stamp in Warm Wishes for Your Home stamp set into a haunted house! I love maximizing stamps and mixing old stamps with new stamps and this is another fun example.
Let’s start with stamping the house out using a Copic friendly ink. You can use brown or black; I started with black and later restamped with brown VersaFine Clair after it was all colored in. Next, color in the windows with fiery colors: YR07, YR16, Y18.
Now that the windows are done, color the exterior of the house. I chose dull browns to keep this looking a little spooky: E89, E87, E84. I chose to keep the shadows on the right of things, but it’s totally up to you on where you want to add the shadows.
For the ground, I used another dull green: G85. I didn’t color in the trees because I wanted them to be barren. Now that I’m done with the coloring with Copics, I placed my stamped image back into my Misti and restamped it using VersaFine Clair in Pinecone. This dark brown enhances the details of the stamp without making the stark black lines.
The next few steps are kind of basic. I die cut the house image using the Stitched Rectangles die and distressed the edges using distress inks and tearing it. The distress ink colors used were Old Paper and Vintage Photo. I then crinkled up the image and pressed it out again and added a little more ink so that those wrinkles would get a little more ink. For the background layer, I used the new Smell My Feet Background Stamp and stamped it twice at angles to get it to cover the landscape background. And the cute ghost is from the new Hey Boo stamp set. Last, the sentiment is from the September 2014 Sentiment Kit: Pick Your Poison.
I hope you enjoyed this spooky card using some old and new stamps that might be in your stash and learning how to make some of your regular stamps a little spooky for Halloween! Until next time…
Happy Crafting!
