Hello, and welcome back! It’s Noelle posting today and we are on week 2 of the Technique Card Challenge! Today I have another shaker card, just a different way of doing it.
DISCLAIMER: Don’t always do what I do! LOL
This time, I grabbed my Scallops and Rectangles dies and got to cutting. I used a Spellbinders embossing folder to emboss the front of the card because it seemed too plain. I used the smaller rectangle to cut the hole. The larger rectangle in acetate to holder the shaker ingredients.
I grabbed the Say It With Love dies and the Say it With Love stamp set. And some shaker card filler! I knew somewhere, I had the tiny wood butterflies! I was so smug, thinking they would match the butterfly stamp so perfectly! I finally found them in a junk journaling stuff drawer!
The butterfly stamp I was matching LOL
I used glue dots to attach the bottom/front piece of acetate to the paper. Then, I lined the cutout with the foam tape to create the ‘well’ for the fillers.
I quickly decided I needed a better mix! I grabbed the black sequins from Art Impressions, the glitter from my stash and look at those vintage lavender sequins from some sewing basket I picked up! They are so beautiful! I stuck the cover on and I glued hugs together and glued it down. Stamped the sentiment and did the Shake, Shake, Shake your booty dance LOL
That dance quickly ended when I realized the glitter was stuck by static all over my supposed to be clear card! I thought about dropping it in the garbage and starting over. Then I thought about that old lemons into lemonade saying and decided to spruce up the white embossing with wilted violet ink! That looked better since I completely messed up the clear and simple look LOL
That glitter made itself known on every surface LOL You should see the keyboard of my laptop, it is here too LOL As you can see, I completely forgot to stamp the butterfly. Forgot all about it until just now when I uploaded the pictures into this post. I pulled the stamp set back out to get that picture so I will use the butterfly to make an envelope since I forgot it on the card. I could add it, but I worry I will drop it or something after the glitter debacle LOL
I cut another frame to attach to the inside with foam tape to give it some more stability.
So, here is my very much not clear card, but oh how glittery it is! LOL I can’t be mad about my mistakes. It still works it just isn’t what I had planned LOL I think this falls under Happy Accidents. 🙂 I really love how sparkly this gorgeous glitter is! I can’t capture it in the pictures, you will just have to trust me!
I hope you will join us over on our Unity Show & Tell Facebook page and upload your favorite card technique! I’ll see y’all next week!
