Making Spirits Bright

Making Spirits Bright

Happy Friday!  This is Julissa of Paper Gems by Jules and I’d like to round out the year with some fun gift ideas for the holidays!  This blog features the Bright Spirits stamp set used for a card and a bottle tag. As we all head to gatherings with friends and family, this is a great way to decorate and customize gifts!  Let’s start with some coloring techniques.

There are a lot of talented Copic artists… and I’m still learning.  So I like to go on Pinterest and look for inspiration.  For this image, I looked up Copic Christmas Ornament.  This can lead to lots of inspiration. So I decided to color this with a Berry Merry Christmas cocktail in mind.  I started with the light reds:  R24, R14 & R22.  I colored all of the fluid in the cup first.  Then I used darker reds for the ornament:  R59, R29, R27.  Using those same darker reds, I colored the berries in and out of the cocktail.

Now for the greens, I used G99, YG99, YG97 and YG95.  I used more of the darker shades with the leaves and the lighter shades for the highlights on the ribbon and the spruce twig.  For the glass, I used BG70 which is very subtle, but just adds a little color.

Using a snowflake stencil and Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, I added a subtle background to this wine tag.  I also used a silver gel pen to detail the ring around the glass tag and the ornament handle. You can also used a Glossy Accent to fill in the clear glass for more depth.

For the matching card, I switched up my recipe … and the colors of the ornament and drink.  This is inspired by a Grinch cocktail.  The only different colors used with this one are Y11 and Y00.  Even though these are yellow, they bring out the green.

I hope this inspires some holiday ideas for your next gathering!  Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you enjoy this holiday season!

Cheers and Happy Crafting!
