Hello there! I have one last post with encouragement cards for the April challenge of the month on the Unity Blog. Today’s cards for the ‘grunge it up’ challenge theme are a little different from my previous cards. Most people think grunge equates to browns, greys, and black. But with today’s post, I want to inspire you to grunge it up with any pretty color you love. Also, it is very much possible to grunge it up without black. My focal stamp set for today is a classic called the Tail Feather. I also used stamps from the Eiffel Grunge to add background stamping. Check out these amazing stamp sets and more at Unity Stamp Company.
Encouragement Cards
I started by stamping and heat embossing the feather and sentiment on with two pieces of Canson XL watercolor cardstock. For the first panel, I stamped in black ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. For the 2nd, I used clear embossing in and white embossing powder.
Next, I used Lindy’s Magical powders to create a colorful background and watercolor the feather. I chose bright colors for the black stamping and darker hues for the one in white to help the stamped images stand out.
Once I was happy with the colors, I added more stamping details to the background using text and mark-making stamps from the Eiffel Grunge stamp set to both panels. I also added the silhouette birds from the tail feather set. Next, I used the deckled edge trimmer to trim the panels and added them to card bases. I finished off with a piece of jute twine and a button to embellish one of the cards and left the other one flat. trip to the panel.
