Grungy Camera Card – Unity April Challenge

April 13, 2023 - by Sandhya Iyer

Grungy Camera Card – Unity April Challenge

Hi there! I am back with a grungy camera card as my weekly inspiration for the April challenge of the month on the Unity Blog. The theme for this challenge is ‘grunge it up’. Join the Unity Show and Tell group on Facebook and add your projects to the April challenge album to enter. For today’s card project, I chose to use the Forever Close stamp set designed by Angie Blom. I also used stamps from the Eiffel Grunge and Soul Mail sets. Check out these amazing stamp sets and more at Unity Stamp Company.

Grunge it up – Mixed Media Card

One of my favorite techniques for coloring is loose and messy watercoloring and the gorgeous vintage camera image from Forever Close was meant to be colored so. I started by stamping the image on watercolor paper with Versafine Claire nocturne ink and watercolored.
Next, I used a Derwent Inktense pencil to add shadows and depth around the image. I also used Prisma colored pencils to darken the centers of my flowers and to add more texture. Once I was happy with the coloring I added more stamping details to the background using text and splatter stamps from the Eiffel Grunge stamp set. Then, I die-cut some pattern paper from my stash with a scalloped- stitched rectangle die and inked around the edges.
On an A2 card base, I layered pattern paper, the die-cut pattern paper panel, and the watercolored panel at a slight angle. I stamped, fussy cut, and adhered the sentiment with some foam tape. Next, I stamped, fussy cut, and created a button out of a Postmark stamp from the Soul Mail kit. I used the button to loop some jute twine into a bow and added it to the card front. I finished off with little bits of ribbon that I attached with a mini-paperclip.

Thank You
