Watercolor Floral Tag – Unity May Challenge

May 11, 2023 - by Sandhya Iyer

Watercolor Floral Tag – Unity May Challenge

Hello again! I am back with a watercolor floral tag to inspire you to join the May challenge of the month on the Unity Blog – Floral and Watercolor. Earlier this week I was inspired by a tag made by our very own Jolande and I was itching to pull out my all-time favorite Unity stamp – You are Important. This is a HUGE stamp set, almost as big as my face! But before I dive right in, I want to remind you about the 50% off sitewide sale and amazing new releases up for grabs at Unity Stamp Company. Watercolor Floral Tag

I started by stamping the ginormous flower on Canson XL watercolor paper with Versafine Claire Nocturne ink. Then I used a Tim Holtz Tag die to cut out the tag shape. After using traditional watercolors for last week’s card, I decided to dig out some Color Burst Powders from my stash to watercolor this beautiful flower. And my tip to get rich colors is to color in layers making sure each layer is dry before you add the next. I also added a dash of Lindy’s Magical powders to the green and center of the flower for a shimmery effect. I adhered it to my tag and inked around the edges of the tag with Distress inks. Finally, I used a stamp from the Vibes set to add background stamping. For once, I resisted the urge to add splatters (as there were plenty from the stamps already) and finished off by adding a piece of ribbon to the tag.
