Watercolor Floral Tag
I started by stamping the ginormous flower on Canson XL watercolor paper with Versafine Claire Nocturne ink. Then I used a Tim Holtz Tag die to cut out the tag shape. After using traditional watercolors for last week’s card, I decided to dig out some Color Burst Powders from my stash to watercolor this beautiful flower.
Aren’t these colors so rich and full of life? I enjoyed playing with these colors/powders as a watercolor medium. And my tip to get rich colors is to color in layers making sure each layer is dry before you add the next. I also added a dash of Lindy’s Magical powders to the green and center of the flower for a shimmery effect.
Next, I die-cut my sentiment with watercolor paper and painted it to achieve an ombre effect using the same powders. I adhered it to my tag and inked around the edges of the tag with Distress inks. Finally, I used a stamp from the Vibes set to add background stamping. For once, I resisted the urge to add splatters (as there were plenty from the stamps already) and finished off by adding a piece of ribbon to the tag.
