Welcome to the second week of the Wild and Wonderful June challenge of the month on the Unity Blog. Today’s card features three brand-new stamps from the latest release at Unity – Mighty Resolve, Wood Pile, and Shatter. This majestic lion is from a past SMAK kit and is an absolute must-have. And the texture stamps designed by Brutus Monroe for Unity are simply superb for layering and also by themselves. Be sure to check out this amazing new release and the latest deals at Unity Stamp Company.
Wild and Wonderful – Lion Card
I started by stamping the lion and sentiment on smooth laser printer paper and roughly ripped them out. Then I ink blended over the lion and sentiment using Antique Linen and Vintage Photo distress inks.
Next, I stamped the Wood Pile stamp on a piece of watercolor paper with Ground Espresso Distress Oxide ink and heat embossed over with the coordinating embossing glaze. I ink blended over it with Vintage Photo and Ground Espresso Distress inks and sprayed it with water. Then, I dried it and repeated this ink blending and spritzing steps a couple more times till I liked the look of it.

While it is hard to see the effect in the pictures, the embossing and inking lose look quite striking in real life. Next, I adhered a page from an old book to a Kraft card base. I stamped over it with the Shatter background stamp. Finally, I threw in some embellishments (jute twine, Tim Holtz metal buttons, photo reel die-cut, tickets, etc) for good measure and assembled my card.
