Welcome back to another inspirational post for the Wild and Wonderful June challenge of the month on the Unity Blog. Today’s card has the Wormwood plant from Hive and Herb centerstage with the gorgeous Shatter stamp in the background. Before I jump into the details of my card, I wanted to remind you that there is still time to snag the new releases at amazing prices at Unity Stamp Company.
Wild and Wonderful – Wormwood
Let’s begin with a fun fact – wormwood is a perennial shrub that can be found growing wild and plentiful near cliffs, roads, and riverbanks. It is a very hardy plant and is famous for its tolerance to poor growing conditions and its ability to keep a wide variety of leaf-damaging insects out of the garden due to its pungent odor. Hah! Remember I told you wild could mean anything – wild animals, wild flowers, insects and birds in the wild or even a wild and wonderful moment in your life…. can’t wait to see more interpretations of this fun theme.
For my card, I started with a smaller watercolor panel and stamped the Shatter background on it. My ink of choice was Tattered Rose Distress Oxide ink. I inked the stamp and spritzed it with water before stamping it to get a gorgeous oxidized effect.
Next, I stamped the Wormwood stamp from Hive and Herb using Versafine Claire Twilight ink. I added some text details with a stamp from the Soul Mail set and added some jute twine to the panel. Then I matted the panel with pattern paper from my stash. I inked around the main panel and mat before adhering them to a kraft card base.
Finally, I added some gumdrop embellishments and a tiny bit of lace with a mini paper clip.
