I Believe in You – September Background of the Month

I Believe in You – September Background of the Month

Hello friends,

It’s already September, where has the time gone? Fall is a favorite season for many, so at least we are moving into a fun time of year both weather-wise and craft-wise! Speaking of crafting, today I want to share a card I made using a new release item and the September Background of the Month stamp! Below is a closer look at the Background design for this month’s stamp:

This may seem like a fairly basic design, but I love that it’s abstract, and there are so many ways in which to use an abstract design! Today I’ll be stamping over this design with another abstract background design!

First, I stamped the September Background of the Month (BOM) in black ink onto a white card panel. Then, I stamped the Polka Dance background over the top of the September BOM stamp, but with random coverage and a lighter touch. I love how the two abstract patterns play so well together! Next, I trimmed down the card panel using my deckled edge paper trimmer and then adhered it to a slightly larger piece of black cardstock that was also trimmed with a deckled edge. I adhered both layers to a white 5.5×4.25 card base. You can in the photo below the details with the two abstract backgrounds!

Next, I focused on the Empowering Bonds stamp set. This set is a new release item and is absolutely beautiful with newsprint detail embedded within the rose. I stamped the image in black ink onto white cardstock, and colored only the rose, leaving everything else in black and white. This helped the rose pop right off the page! I used Copic markers in R9, R24, and R59, with a touch of R05. Once I finished coloring, I trimmed the panel down with my deckled edge paper trimmer, along with a piece of black cardstock slightly larger, and glued the layers together. If you look closely at the photo below, you can still see the newsprint emerge through the rose. I love that look!!!

Next, it was time to complete my card. I trimmed a piece of black patterned paper from Eternal Midnight Weave paper pad (such YUMMMMMY designs!) using my deckled edge paper trimmer and adhered it over lower third of the September BOM panel. Then I adhered the Rose layer over it and finished with a lovely sentiment from the Empowering Bonds stamp set.

I love the striking black and white on this card, with just a pop of red from that beautiful rose! Unity Stamp Co. make their red rubber stamps with so much detail that you don’t need to add much to have a stunning card! Thanks for stopping by this month!
