Hi friends,
Unity is releasing a Monthly Tribute Series of red rubber stamps all throughout 2024! Each month will reveal new products dedicated to a certain population such as cancer victims, teachers, veterans, the elderly, and so on. I’m so excited to see what each month reveals and how we can use these products to send a hug in a card to someone in need of love!
Today I’m going to share 2 cards meant for individuals who have cancer. They are both beautiful tributes of hope, faith, and courage that I’ve seen so many times in people who have cancer. For my first card, I’ll be using the newly released A Journey with Cancer series for January.
The background stamp is filled with words of encouragement and is just beautifully done. I stamped it in black ink and trimmed the card panel slightly, placing it over a black 5.5×4.25 black card base. Next, I created an oval mask so that I could ink up the center of the panel for my focal point. The background stamp is bold and busy, so I wanted to draw the eyes into the focal point. I used 3 shades of pink ink and moved from lighter to darker. Then I removed the mask. In the photo below you can see the beautiful background stamp and the oval image in pink.
Next, I created a flower using the Layering Peony large stencil. I inked up these flowers in the same shades of pink as I did with the oval shape. Then I fussy cut the peonies and placed them onto the card panel with just a bit of the oval peeking out from behind. I finished with a sentiment that coordinates with the A Journey with Cancer set. The colors on this card are limited because this is a busy card. And it works against that pop of black!
My next card focuses on the ribbon that represents cancer. There are several ribbon colors that can be used to symbolize cancer. For example, grey is for brain cancer, blue is for prostate cancer, and green is for liver cancer. And there are many more colors to select. So, you can customize this ribbon specifically for your recipient. I think that’s so personal and beautiful. For my card, I used the pink ribbon.
I colored the ribbon and surrounding flowers with my Copic markers. Then I created a ray of sun beams behind it using a sunray stencil, being careful not to get yellow ink on the ribbon or flowers. I love how the sunrays frame the ribbon, and the yellow is warm and inviting.
You can see all the detail in the ribbon and flowers in the photo above. Unity leaves no detail behind!
Once I finished with my main focal point, I trimmed the card panel down and placed it over a slightly larger piece of black cardstock. Then I adhered both layers over a 5.5×4.25 white card base. I finished with a sentiment from this set. Below is a closer look at these lovely sentiments!
These cards will go out to a few special people in my life that are struggling. I’m really looking forward to what Unity releases in the in the Monthly Tribute Series in February!
