Insightful Meadows | Mixed Media Thursday

February 1, 2024 - by Natasha Vacca

Insightful Meadows | Mixed Media Thursday

Hello Crafty Friends, It is Natasha Vacca here for a new week sharing a mixed media tag with you using the beautiful Insightful Meadows stamp set!!!! So let’s get started!

For today’s tag I started with a pre-stamped background.  The background uses second generation stamping from a previous tag I had made using the Collage of Digits background stamp.  I simply stamped a second time using the Collage of Digits background onto a new tag. When I created my original tag I added Distress Inks directly to the stamp, then spritzed with water.  I encourage you to do this, it creates a softer look, as well as uses all that ink on your stamp!  I wanted to grunge up my background a bit.  I did this my applying Distress Oxide Inks using a blending brush to my tag.

Next I chose a stencil from my stash and applied crackle paste through the stencil in 3 sections of the tag.  I allowed the paste to dry. Once the paste was completely dry, I added a bit of Moon Shadow spray from Lindy’s Gang to sections of the tag.  Once the spray was dry, I stamped in a green dye ink onto the background using taco stamping in random areas, using Honeycomb Chaos.  I also stamped a couple floral images in a lighter green ink from the Insightful Meadows stamp set.  Once this was complete, I prepped the background using my antic static powder tool and stamped the silhouette floral image from Insightful Meadows onto the background using VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne.  I then heat set the image using clear embossing powder.

I added a bit more texture to the tag by applying white gesso using a paintbrush and my finger to sections of the tag.  I then applied gold wax (Hero Arts) to areas, as well as a few splatters with black and silver ink.  I completed my tag with some twine, cheesecloth, and ephemera from my stash, as well as a sentiment strip from Unity.

I had so much fun creating today’s tag!  Thank you for stopping by today and I will be back next week sharing inspiration using Unity Stamps to create a mixed media project!  Have a great week!

Natasha
