Hello Unity friends, it is Natasha here back up on the blog today sharing a 1 layer mixed media tag using the beautiful Magical Motif stamp set! So let’s get started!
I started by working on a Distress Tag base with my Lindy’s Gang Sprays. You can create a colorful and textured mixed media background using sprays and inks. I love working with both mediums. I started by spraying one color on my work surface (mixed media mat), I then added a bit of water, moved the color around with my finger, then dipped the paper into the color. I then dry the color with my heat tool, add water droplets, pick up the color with a paper towel, then repeat all the steps with each of the colors I am using. I want to encourage you to keep layering the colors, when you do this you create so much texture! It’s so fun to see it all come together.
Once my tag base was complete, I prepped the surface my antic static powder tool. I then stamped the Magical Motif floral image along the tag base using Versafine Nocturne Ink. I then heat set the flowers with clear embossing powder. Next I stamped some more texture in the background using a dye ink and the Love and Wisdom background stamp. I stamped the text randomly across the background.
Next I added splatters to the tag base using white acrylic paint, as well as gold splatters. I then added black wax to a few sections of the tag for more texture. Once the wax was dry, I added the ephemera to the tag front. I used items in my stash (Unity gifts from previous orders, as well as butterfly ephemera). I added more texture under the the butterfly as well. I added some May Arts twine to the top of the tag, then added black soot Distress Ink to the tag edges.
I completed my tag with a sentiment from the Art and Possibility stamp set. I stamped the sentiment on kraft card stock, then heat set with clear embossing powder. I used my distress tool on the edges of the sentiment and added distress ink for more texture.
Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope today’s project inspires you to get inky with your Unity Stamps today! I will be back soon!
Crafty Hugs,
Natasha
