Hi friends!
What is it about veggies or fruits on a card that make me so happy? Well, I was really excited with March’s Kit of the Month because it features mushrooms! Today’s card features a mushroom cluster, and I’ll be using March’s Kit of the Month as well as Gosh I Love You and Bohemian Dreams patterned paper! I’ll also be using distress oxide inks and alcohol markers.
First, I stamped the mushroom cluster onto a piece of white cardstock and colored them with my Copic markers. I added some green grass by flicking with a green marker. I trimmed the panel down with my deckled paper trimmer and then inked the edges in Black Soot distress oxide and the center with a very light shade of brown. I don’t know if mushrooms are red in real life, but I find red mushrooms to be so appealing to the eye!
Next, I focused on the background for my focal point! This is where the patterned paper comes into play! Using patterned paper on a card can add so much with so little effort!
Searching for paper in similar shades as my mushrooms, I found a lovely one with black hearts from the Gosh I Love You set, which matched the black hearts in the mushrooms! Then I added more layers to create a collage using paper from Bohemian Dreams in similar shades of red. I tore the paper from Bohemian Dreams with my hands and inked the edges in Black Soot, then adhered the layers over the heart paper. You can see in the photo above how it looks! Tearing the paper by hand gives a cool mixed media look to your card! Then I placed my mushroom panel over the collage and finished with a sentiment and gold paste at a few edges of the card!
I truly enjoyed the experience of coloring and creating a collage to frame these lovely mushrooms. To shop the products that I’ve used, click on the description to link to the shop. Thanks for stopping by!
