Hay friends! In April, Unity released this adorable Pintsize Pony stamp with some of the cutest sentiments, so I grabbed my Copic markers and had some fun! This would make the perfect card for my 10-year-old granddaughter!
First, I stamped the adorable Pintsize Pony using permanent black ink onto a white piece of cardstock.
TIP: When I plan to color, I stamp the image using permanent black ink so that the ink doesn’t smear from the alcohol markers. You can find this kind of ink just about anywhere! Also, I use a high-quality cardstock for my Copic coloring so that the ink blends well. Neenah Solar White is a great choice!
Getting back to my pony, I chose to color him in shades of brown using E15, E37, E49, E31, and YR27. Next, I added grass around him by flicking shades of green in various sizes. Flicking is a technique where you hold the marker onto the paper and then quickly flick upward with your wrist, gradually releasing the marker from the paper so that the end is pointy. It takes some practice to get the technique mastered, but there are lots of videos out on flicking! For the grass, I used YG17, YG05, and G29. Finally, I added clouds behind him using the Cloud and Wave stencil and blue ink, being careful not to get the blue ink directly onto the pony.
Once my pony and background were finished, I trimmed the panel down to a square and then placed it over a darker piece of cardstock slightly larger. Then I inked up the edges with dark brown ink.
For the background, I stamped Woodpile background stamp using a medium shade of brown, then I flipped the stamp over and stamped it again using a darker shade of brown. I did this so that I got some natural-looking wood tones to the image, because wood isn’t one shade. It’s got several shades! I finished by inking over the stamped image with a very light shade of brown. Then I trimmed a piece of scrap patterned paper, added a fabric edging behind it, and adhered that over the background panel. This added a bit more interest to the background! Then, I adhered the pony using foam tape over the background and finished with those cute sentiments that come with this stamp set! I also added glossy accents over his eyes and nose.
